Who
we are
We
are students of Earth living skills, who decided to make a living
doing something we enjoy – Braintanning! |
| Kfir
Mendel – Founder
and Head Instructor. He started studying primitive skills over 10 years
ago, and never thought he would end up tanning hides for a living.
What began as a short term way of making an extra income, turned
into a vocation and a great journey. Together with his passion for
teaching, he truly loves his work, and looks forward to every
hide and every workshop. He's been tanning hides for over 6 years, and professioanly for the last 4. Teaching teens and adults the art of Brain
Tanning, and giving them the tools to make their own clothing along
with the freedom that comes with it, has been an amazing honor for him. Kfir has taught people from all over the world, and collaborated with school and organizations such as Practical Primitive, The Children of the Earth Foundation, Ozark Trackers Society, and Caretakers of Israel. |

| Kristi
Knapp – Tanner and Craftswoman. Kristi is a new member of Two Wolves. She is
17, and
has been tanning hides since she was 12 years old. If its primitive,
she's done it, doing it, or is planning on doing it. Her passion for
the ancient skills is inspiring! She
will be tanning hides, as well as crafting itemsand teaching our NJ "Working with Buckskin" workshops. I am excited to have her with us! |
 |
| Panoka
Walker – Craftswoman and Tailor. Panoka hosted a Two Wolves workshop at her home
in Michigan in '08, and became a good friend. She has been working
with buckskin and leather for many years, making traditional native
garments, bags, and other items. She will be making bags and other
items for sale, as well as sew custom clothing. |

How
we got our name
Inspired
by "Two Wolves," the story of an old native grandfather
teaching his grandson about life. We felt it summed up how we feel
about this life we've been given, and what we strive for day to day.

What
we do and why
Our
mission is to pursue the art of traditional Brain Tanning and to
share it with others. Our hides have put smiles on many faces. Our
work also supports organizations, such as the Children of the Earth
Foundation, the Wilderness Awareness School, and others who are
dedicated to preserving the earth and its teachings.
